All transportation around Ireland (including ferries), your fan-feck-tastic Guide, some of the top attractions and your accommodation whilst on tour including a light breakfast.
Choice is at the heart of all we do which means you are free to upgrade your accommodation at the time of booking and organise your own food. It’s your money so you should have the option to spend it how you like!
Full payment is always taken before the day of departure.
Tours costing 200 GBP, 400 AUD, 360 CAD, 240 EUR, 500 NZD, 340 USD, 2,000 ZAR or less must be paid in full at time of booking. Tours costing more than 200 GBP, 400 AUD, 360 CAD, 240 EUR, 500 NZD, 340 USD, 2,000 ZAR: a non-refundable deposit of 50 GBP, 75 EUR, 100 AUD, 100 NZD, 100 USD, 100 CAD, 1000 SAR, per person per trip is required. The outstanding balance of the trip price must be paid by no later than 45 days prior the departure. If the booking is made within 45 days of the nominated departure date, the full amount payable must be made at the time of booking.
On some of our trips we have chucked in a few freebies that we feel you absolutely must see and to save you any hassle. We keep extra costs to a minimum – there may be a couple of other entry fees into various attractions, but these are usually €5 - €12 and are optional.
We don’t own the hostels we stay in so are free to select the very best ones. We choose places packed full of character and only use quality independent hostels and budget hotels. We guarantee dorm bed accommodation on all our tours.
Hostels we use have private (double/twin) rooms but these depend on availability. All upgrades should be selected at time of booking as Private Rooms are very limited. If you do select a Private Room, occasionally this may be provided in a B&B in a separate building and a short walk away from the coach drop off point and the main group.
It’s entirely up to you! And we don’t just eat potatoes in case you are wondering, although the Irish stew is the best in the world. Most hostels have self-catering kitchens. There's also plenty of opportunity to eat at local pubs, cafes and restaurants.
A good guess would be €15 - €30 per day. And you can’t come to Ireland without visiting the pub for a proper pint at the end of a hard day’s exploring. A pint of Guinness (mother’s milk) costs around €5.50, an Irish whiskey would be about €6.00.
A sleeping bag is not required. All hostels provide linen but it is a good idea to bring a towel although some hostels do rent them.
Check-in for all our tours is at 8.15am at the Shamrocker Adventures office. Tours will usually return to the office around 5.30pm but please remember we can’t predict what the traffic might be like so make sure you have plenty of time to get to any connecting flights and so on…
As a budget focused, backpacker tour operator, the majority of our passengers are between 18 to 35 age bracket and our style of travel reflects this. The minimum age on all tours is 18. There is no maximum age. As long as you are reasonably fit and up for a bit of craic we are sure you will have a fantastic time!
Loads! We want you to get out and about, stretch your legs, breathe I the sweet Irish air and actually experience the country you’re in. We'll take you for walks, explore old ruins and ancient sites, recount local myths, a few tall tales and tell you about our often turbulent history.
Yes. Whilst we regularly get couples and friends travelling together, every tour has plenty of people travelling solo and down to our style of travel, you'll get to know everyone soon enough! Many of our travellers become friends for life and more! (But that’s another story for down the pub...)
Occasionally we do have more than one departure each day so it is not guaranteed that you will be on the same bus if bookings are made separately. Just get in touch prior to your departure date with everyone's name, booking references and the tour they are on – we’ll do the rest.
Each passenger can bring one standard piece of baggage up to a maximum weight of 15kg. This weight should cover a standard 60 litre backpack or a medium holdall or suitcase. Unfortunately if your baggage is in excess of this allowance you may be asked to leave it behind in secure storage. In addition, a standard daypack may be carried on the coach provided it can fit in the luggage rack or under your seat.
No - sorry! We do not have luggage storage facilities but these may be available at your hostel.
Tipping is not compulsory. If you'd like to recognise great service then please feel free to do so. 100% of tips are retained by our team - not the company. We are often asked 'How much?' but feel free to tip as little, as much or not at all, as you feel appropriate.
Great savings can be made if you hold an ISIC, ISE or ITIC card. Make sure you let us know at the time of booking and the discount will be applied. You will need to show this card when you check-in. If you do not produce this you will be charged the difference between the normal brochure price and the discounted price in addition to an administration fee.
